New page

Sounds of The Stig was a tongue-in-cheek "album" whose cover was briefly shown on the dashboard of a Volkswagen Golf R32 as it was taken around by The Stig for a power lap. The selection of these music tracks set the tone for the character of The Stig, who would be characterised as a listener of easy-listening and blues music long after the character ventured into other genres throughout later series.

If compiled together and made into a real album, its fourteen tracks would total a length of 54:15. Boston's "More Than A Feeling" was also heard during the power laps for the Aston Martin Vanquish and Ferrari 575M Maranello, but Jeremy Clarkson claimed that The Stig had bought the CD himself, so has not been included. If included, the album's length would extend further to 15 tracks and precisely 59:00 long.

It is worth mentioning that every track heard during the show's inaugural episode was composed by Burt Bacharach, who along with The Carpenters, gave their namesakes to corners of the Top Gear Test Track.
