The seventeenth series of Top Gear premiered in the United Kingdom on the 26th June, 2011, and concluded on the 31st July, 2011, after a run of 6 episodes. The series' main host was Jeremy Clarkson, and he was accompanied by Richard Hammond, James May and The Stig as co-presenters. The series was produced at Television Centre in Wood Lane, London, and aired on BBC Two in a 60-minute studio format. Series 17 attracted an average viewership rating of 6.42 million viewers per episode, with a peak of 7.14 million viewers for Episode 4, and a low of 5.72 million viewers for Episode 2.

Highlights from this series include the Car Train Challenge and guest appearance of Rowan Atkinson in the series' fourth episode, which marked the final time a non-special episode would surpass 7 million viewers, in addition to the Marauder and 50th Anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type in the series premiere and the creation of The Interceptors, a metafictional '70s-themed action series based around the Jensen Interceptor in the penultimate episode.
