Lead-In: Ford GT40 Concept[edit | edit source]
Before the programme's first ever News can begin, Richard Hammond introduces himself for the very first time by talking about legendary race cars, and that a list comprising them will always be incomplete if one does not at least mention the Ford GT40. A brief movie plays demonstrating the GT40's dominance it held at Le Mans for four consecutive years in a successful bid to humiliate business rivals Ferrari. To commemorate this achievement, Ford have built a concept car that heavily resembles the original, which the company is set to put into production[1] 2 years later. Hammond shows off the car's engine bay, which contains a 5.4 litre V8, as well as its automated fuel filler cap and cockpit hewn from a single block of cast aluminium, but cautions those wanting one that the waiting list for this car will only be reserved[2] for those who Ford think deserve one.
