Helen Mound was a British motoring journalist who briefly presented for Top Gear in 1992. Not much is known about her career, other than the fact she remained[1] an automotive journalist through to at least 2001. She also appeared[2] on ITV's The Road Show in 1996. In 1998, together with Angela Giveon, Mound would found the shortlived magazine title Nuts About Motoring, a female-centric[3] car magazine which also featured the involvement of Vicki Butler-Henderson. Scheduled for launch at the end[4] of April 1998, the magazine likely did not last long, with little evidence of its existence in contemporary nor historic discourse.
What is most likely Mound's most famous on-screen moment came in 1992, when she presented a segment on the Messerschmitt KR200 on her first of only two outings for Top Gear, driving the three-wheeled microcar around an inner city and housing estate. This segment would later be abridged and incorporated by fellow Top Gear host Tiff Needell for his 2002 home video release 20 Cars That Changed The World. Towards the end of Series 27, Mound would also drive the Rover 200 Convertible before her four year hiatus from TV.
