The sixth series of Top Gear premiered in the United Kingdom on the 22nd May, 2005, and concluded on the 7th August, 2005, after a run of 11 episodes. The series' main host was Jeremy Clarkson, and he was accompanied by Richard Hammond, James May and The Stig as co-presenters. The series was produced at Television Centre in Wood Lane, London, and aired on BBC Two in a 60-minute studio format. Series 6 attracted an average viewership rating of 4.21 million viewers per episode, with a peak of 5.18 million viewers for Episode 9, and a low of 3.45 million viewers for Episode 4.
Highlights from this series include the first game of Car Football, held between two teams of Toyota Aygos, the Race to Oslo between a McLaren-Mercedes SLR and various boats, Sabine Schmitz attempting to beat Jeremy Clarkson's lap time in a stock Ford Transit around the Nürburgring, and the team setting the world record for number of sideways rolls in a car, among many other feats.
